Fajr festival to host 360 foreign guests

The 35th edition of the Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) has scheduled to host 360 foreign participants.

Announcing the above statistics, Reza Mirkarimi, secretary of the event, said Iranian Cinema is one of the most important ones in the world.

“Therefore, we want to have the best film festival in the world,” he added.

He also noted that the organizers should turn the Fajr Film Festival into a major event in Asia and one of the most important festivals in the world.

While referring to the recent US travel ban imposed on some countries, including Iran, he continued, “I have to say that we host 360 foreign attendees, including the countries such as Egypt and Saudi Arabia and this figure has been doubled comparing to that of last year.”

Established in 1982, the Fajr International Film Festival celebrates cultural exchange, displays creative achievements of highly acclaimed cineastes and pays tribute to local and international films.

Since its establishment, the Fajr International Film Festival has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran and across the world every year.

The 35th International Fajr Film Festival is scheduled to take place in the country’s capital of Tehran from April 21 through 28, 2017.
